Indian Gaming
Here's a tidbit from my current work in the Indian gaming area:
Indian gaming exhibited significant growth in 2004. There were 228 tribes operating 405 gaming facilities in 30 states. In total, these gaming facilities generated approximately $19 billion in gaming revenue, a 12 percent increase over the $17 billion generated in 2003. Total non-gaming revenue rose about 16 percent, from about $1.8 billion in 2003 to $2.1 billion
in 2004.
The industry is posied for even stronger growth in 2005 and 2006, according to industry sources.
Stay tuned.

TrueIndian,
Thank you for stopping by ED Futures and for leaving your comment.
As for the numbers, they are the best that were available to me. Are they correct? Several people in the industry roughly agree with them. Does that make them "right?" Not necessarily.
I don't run into many Indians who openly criticize tribes for gaming or sovereignity. I know some who are against gaming and worry that it will lead Indian people down the wrong path. Not many Indians I know are against Indian sovereignity. Some question its use, especially in relation to gaming. I know some who absolutely support gaming, and many who have mixed feelings about gaming.
I try to deal with what exists in the world. Indian gaming exists. The question is where does this reality lead us (Indians and non-Indians alike). I have worked for a number of tribes and see where gaming revenues have been used wisely. In other cases, these funds have not been used so well.
My "true" interest in the Indian world is spiritual. Go here and find out more about this interest: http://conscious-living.blogspot.com
