One of the things that used to discourage me when I lived in Tucson was the tendacy for the big resort properties to treat their guests like they were on board a cruise ship and not let them venture into town to see what the destination was really all about. Cleveland doesn't have those types of resorts, but it needs to promote its history and its personality to help visitors understand the unique charm of being here. That means doing a better job for working historic preservation into the city's destination planning process and its econonmic development strategy.
